For years, users have been searching for a reliable way to remove duplicate photos from their Google Photos accounts. Despite acknowledging the problem, Google has yet to provide a solution or include it in their roadmap. The issue is not only frustrating but also time-consuming, especially when dealing with thousands of photos.

In the past, users could use Drive Photos as a workaround by downloading all images, using offline deduplication software, and then re-uploading them. However, Google has since retired this feature, leaving many without a viable solution.

Picasa, which offered an experimental duplicate finder, is no longer available either. With so many duplicates scattered across multiple backups over the last decade, manually segregating and deleting each one is impractical.
